If Philip Schofield is happy to award this toy 'Best in Show' on 'How to spend it well at Christmas', there is probably no reason to look at it any further and just assume its awesome. But, as I get paid per review, I should probably write something!

This cute robotic chameleon comes from Silverlit, who make a whole host of robo friends, including a range of pets that won’t chew the furniture or poop on the carpet. This cool little dude has a four directional remote control and three step hunting strategy, just like the real lizard. It will seek down prey, aim to shoot and snap up its food (don’t worry you won’t have to supply real insects) with a flick of its tongue. Thankfully you won’t have issues with losing this lizard friend because, unlike the real thing that blends into the background, this guy draws attention to himself by putting on a funky display with his LED lights. These lights glow and can provide multiple colour changes.

There is a straightforward remote control that can be mastered by little hands to direct the chameleon, change its colour and whip out his tongue. His eyes also roll around and his tail wags as he walks about. Robo Chameleon comes with his own bugs for food, which connect to his tongue via magnetic contacts, meaning he can also pick up other magnets and things like paper clips.

This lizard is rather sizable at 271(L) X 102(D) X 138(H) mm and will need six batteries that are not included: two AA for the remote and four AA for the robot itself. It is suitable for ages 3+, but due to the skills and patience it needs to “catch” its food, it maybe best suited for ages 5+ depending on the child. Over all the Robo Chameleon is a colourful and entertaining toy; we never questioned that silver fox Phil! RRP £39.99
