When opening the box, I was thrilled with how high-quality everything was – from the packaging to the feel of the unit. Included in the box is the machine itself, a carry case, brush, spoon, tamper, basket, funnel, and showerhead. Everything you would need to use the Picopresso is included…except for the coffee of course!

To use you first have to grind your coffee, whilst this is not a feature of the Picopresso, Wacaco does have its own Exagrind which is perfect for this. Once your coffee is ground, you weigh it into the filter basket, tamp it, and pour over hot water. Then you take the Picopresso in your hand and press the side button to release a creamy shot of espresso from the base. What is impressive about the Picopresso is that it requires no batteries, instead, it uses a single hand-powered piston, so you never have to worry about recharging or changing batteries. Therefore, the Picopresso is designed to last as Wacaco has worked to improve every aspect of the core technology to ensure that the pumping system is more reliable and capable than other portable espresso machines on the market.

For me the Picopresso was great, whilst I’m not necessarily a big espresso drinker, I could appreciate the quality throughout every aspect of the design of the unit. It even has a naked portafilter which means you can see every drop of your delicious creamy espresso as it flows from the base of the Picopresso.

Wacaco has now also introduced the Picopresso stand, perfectly designed to work with the Picopresso to carefully hold the device. The stand is stable and made of 4 easily dismounted stain-less steel parts, so, just like your Picopresso, you can take the stand with you on the go for easy brewing. It even includes a mirror so you can keep a watchful eye on every single drop of your espresso.
